Ketamine Assisted Therapy
Ketamine-Assisted Therapy is an emerging, evidence-based treatment that pairs the therapeutic use of ketamine with structured psychotherapy, for people who've done the work in talk therapy and still feel stuck. If anxiety, depression, or trauma has stayed put despite years of trying, KAT works with your brain and your sense of self in a way that traditional talk therapy alone sometimes can't reach.
What KAT actually is:
Ketamine has been used safely in medical settings for decades, and in recent years, researchers and clinicians have found that in low, carefully monitored doses, it can temporarily shift the brain into a more flexible, open state, one where entrenched thought patterns, trauma responses, and self-critical narratives loosen their grip. On its own, that shift doesn't create lasting change. Paired with psychotherapy, before, during, and after the medicine session, it becomes an opportunity to process and integrate what comes up in a way that can move faster than talk therapy alone. I’ve written more about how the process works here
KAT is administered under medical supervision in coordination with a prescribing provider, and sessions with me focus on the therapy side: preparing you beforehand, supporting you during the experience, and helping you integrate what surfaces afterward so it actually changes something in your daily life.
What ketamine can help with:
Depression, including depression that hasn't responded well to other treatment
Treatment-resistant anxiety
PTSD and trauma, particularly trauma that feels stored in the body as much as the mind
Chronic stress and burnout
Feeling stuck despite years of "doing the work”
Ketamine Therapy Process:
Screening and consultation. We start by talking through your history and whether KAT is a safe, appropriate fit, in coordination with a prescribing medical provider.
Preparation sessions. Before any medicine session, we spend time building the groundwork: what you're hoping to work through, what to expect, and how to feel safe and grounded going in.
The medicine session. Administered under medical guidance, with me present to support you through the experience itself.
Integration sessions. This is where the real work happens. We process what came up and connect it back to your actual life, relationships, and patterns, so the insight doesn't just stay in the room.
What does a Ketamine session with me look like?
Same as everywhere else in my practice: relational, direct, and warm, with room for the exploratory and the occasional bit of dry humor. Ketamine can bring up a lot, and I want you to feel like you have an actual person in the room with you, not just a clinical process happening to you.
Is ketamine right for you?
Ketamine isn't the right fit for everyone, and that's exactly what the initial consultation is for. If you're curious whether it could help with what you're carrying, let's talk it through.
